Job Description

Job duties: Our Quality Assurance team collaborates with our product development and customer facing teams to design, build and execute test plans that ensure our digital insurance products and solutions fulfill customer needs and expectations by meeting functional, technical and quality standards. This role will contribute to quality assurance efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around testing. You will be analyzing and decomposing complex software systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance system quality.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and document test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test data
  • Manual execution of test scenarios/cases and thorough documentation of results
  • Conduct comprehensive tests to ensure quality and document defect reports with tests to verify their resolution
  • Execute and document the outcomes of tests for software applications
  • Create and execute design verification simulations and prototype bench tests for components
  • Detect, document, monitor, and suggest remedies for product defects
  • Evaluate technical documents and reports for analysis
  • Create and enforce testing policies, procedures, and scripts for software and information systems
  • Support in the collection and tracking of data from the usage of services
  • Work with our Test Automation team to reduce manual verification tasks by identifying automation candidates
  • Work with development teams to prevent software defects by participating in architectural meetings and proactively planning appropriate testing strategies
  • Work with product owners to focus testing strategies and investigate issues
  • Train new team members

You'll bring:

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years

Work experience: The candidate must demonstrate the following work experience:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience as a functional tester testing web applications and enterprise systems
  • 7+ years Agile experience
  • 5+ years experience in the insurance domain including:
    • Purchase and servicing of small business general liability and workers’ compensation products
    • Purchase and servicing of direct to consumer products such as tenant insurance, event hosting insurance and vendor insurance
    • Submission and settlement of insurance claims
  • 3+ years experience using JIRA as a work management and bug tracking tool
  • 3+ years experience with using Telepresence, Swagger, Oracle Virtual Box, GWSL and Linux Shell to create/modify test data
  • 3+ years experience testing with Stripe as a payment processing platform
  • 3+ years experience testing with Keycloak identity management and access solution
  • 3+ years experience using ZeroTier or OpenVPN for secure networking
  • 3+ years experience with insurance rating algorithms such as NetRate and Insurity
  • 3+ years experience testing with Sendgrid as a communication platform for transactional email
  • 3+ years experience testing with Intercom as a method of chatting with our users
  • 3+ years experience testing with GraphQl as a middle layer between front and back end components
  • 3+ years experience using Github, Visual Studio Code and Git CMD for software development and version control
  • 3+ years experience using Datadog/Jenkins for web user monitoring
  • 1+ years of test automation experience using Cucumber
  • Demonstrated:
    • Experience working with HTML and CSS for cross-platform testing
    • Experience in a continuous integration/development pipeline
    • Experience working with Figma for collaborative design
    • Experience using Confluence as a requirements wiki
    • Knowledge of software quality assurance practices and methodologies
    • Ability to write test documentation including test plans, test scenarios/cases and test reports
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
    • Experience training/mentoring junior team members
