Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Director of Engineering to join our team in Eastern Canada .

We’re looking for a dynamic Director of Engineering to lead and empower the Engineering teams in the GTA, ensuring all projects are resourced and executed.

In this role, you'll craft and implement strategies to bring innovative ideas to life within projects while building the teams' technical capabilities. Operational responsibilities will include budgeting, reporting, procedure compliance, staff development, and fostering collaboration across business lines, other Ausenco offices and regions.

About the Role

1. Manage the performance of the Engineering teams, ensuring that people are assigned to the business in a way that creates the most value and maximizes utilization of resources.
2. Promote and drive a culture of engagement in the region in line with Ausenco’s core values and in support of Ausenco’s people and talent development programs.
3. In collaboration with Vice President, develop a business plan for the region, which aligns with and helps facilitate the achievement of the corporate strategy and provides meaningful opportunities for our people. Communicate the plan to create alignment and engagement.
4. Support the business planning cycle, including monthly re-forecasting, by developing budgets and operational plans.
5. Support recruitment by defining the required range of skills and expertise to meet job demands and service client needs.
6. On large projects, alongside Project Managers, create and execute project work and resourcing plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
7. Provide oversight and governance to project delivery and execution.
8. Collaborate with Project Managers to handle daily client interactions, enhance customer satisfaction, deepen relationships, and develop project scope and teams based on clients’ business needs.
9. Oversee and/or lead the development of project estimate for mid to large projects, including subcontractor negotiation.
10. Coordinate with Ausenco’s other offices to promote workshare with the goal of improving efficiency in delivery of projects.

About you

1. Bachelor degree in engineering or applied science.
2. Licensed with the applicable regulatory association.
3. 15+ years’ proven engineering delivery and project management experience with an engineering consulting firm; mineral processing and construction experience is an asset.
4. Previous experience leading and guiding teams.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing proposals and delivering presentations.
6. A strong background in engineering technology, with superior demonstrated skills in the technical focus area.
7. Proven track record of delivering projects on time and under budget, while successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously or a major project of significant size and scope.
8. The ability to create and share a sense of direction, give clear direction to individuals and teams and willingness to coach and mentor others to build business capability for the future.
9. A good commercial sense and experience expanding and developing business with new and existing clients.
10. Understanding of Financial Reports and project and operations budgets.
11. Willingness and ability to travel.
