Roll Tenders work with the Press Operators and Assistants to ensure smooth and efficient production by maintaining an appropriate supply of roll paper stock to the press and performing other pressroom duties as assigned. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesVerify roll inventory number against job ticketsRecord roll numbers and weight on roll log sheetPrep rolls for splicer and stage rolls in appropriate locationMove rolls into position and hang rolls in splicerCheck oil levels in units twice each shift and fill as neededCheck overflow pans each shift; empty and clean as neededHang plates on the pressHelp web press during make ready or web breakReturn paper to inventory at the end of each jobComplete paperwork at the end of each job and each shiftKeep work areas clean throughout the shiftWork with Lead Operator and train as time allowsParticipate in continuous improvement processHelp Press Assistants as required or directedEnsure production meets department goals and metricsCheck conductivity/record once a shiftPerform all other duties as assigned Requirements Previous press experience preferred but not requiredPrevious manufacturing experience requiredFull comprehension in reading work instructionsEffective communication skillsAbility to use basic math skills including the ability to read a ruler, as well as basic computer skillsMust have critical thinking skills and the ability to solve practical problemsMust have the ability to work effectively in time-sensitive situations.Must be organized, and be able to plan, prioritize, and follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
