Percentage of task: 100% spread as followed: 30% DDO, 30% QHS, 20% TRA, 20% RRHS
THE POSITION
As a Guidance Counselor, your mission will be to support students in their personal and professional development. You will use your expertise to assess their psychological functioning, personal resources, and environmental conditions, to create tailored strategies to help them make informed decisions throughout their academic journey.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in the development and implementation of a school and career guidance service, while adhering to academic and administrative requirements.
Support guidance counselors in schools with file evaluations, intervention planning, and student placement.
Consult school teams on various programs, pathways, and the TEVA approach.
Identify resources available for TEVA both within and outside the school board.
Prepare and conduct awareness, information, and training activities for personnel involved in programs such as TEVA, Career Choice Education, and Learning-Oriented Approach.
Establish and maintain relationships with partners involved in programs, providing advice and information.
Inform relevant organizations of resources and services available within the school board and educational institutions.
Represent the school board to partners, facilitate specialized meetings, and coordinate the work of involved groups.
Evaluate TEVA-related activities, produce reports, and make recommendations for improvement.
Collaborate with representatives from the job market and other organizations for student orientation.
Advise management personnel, prepare expertise reports, and make recommendations to support decision-making.
Attend provincial meetings regarding TEVA and WOTP, as well as participate in educational service activities and meetings.
Prepare and update records according to established standards, providing progress reports and follow-up reports on interventions.
Hold a university degree in an appropriate field of specialization, including guidance counselling.
Be a member of the Ordre des conseillers d'orientation du Québec.
Demonstrate excellent oral and written English language skills , as well as good oral and written French language skills.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, principals, parents and supervisors.
Ability to travel to various schools in the CCQS territory.
Ability to establish relationships based on courtesy, respect and integrity.
Respect for the direction and values of the school and community.
