About the Team:
As part of this function, the Risk Appetite & Limits team is responsible for designing and driving enhancements to strengthen the firm’s approach to risk appetite and limits. The team’s book of work is constructed to deliver a clearly articulated risk appetite that is connected to firm-wide processes, cascaded within the firm and that is supported by metrics, limits and assessments that ensure a risk profile that is consistent with the firm’s defined risk appetite. The team is led by the Head of Risk Appetite & Limits who reports to the Head of ERM.
About the Role:
The current opening is for a Vice President to lead and support key processes and projects as part of the Risk Appetite & Limits - Strategic Initiatives group. The objective of the role is to implement the firm’s risk appetite and limit framework. This initiative is global in scope encompassing an extensive set of stakeholders and activities. This current opening will drive risk appetite & limit-related strategic initiatives, including cross-pillar initiatives on risk & controls and other BAU or day-to-day special projects that support broader Enterprise Risk Management. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including strategy development, execution and leading initiatives that span the entire Risk Appetite & Limits team.
Key Responsibilities:
Support execution of key risk appetite processes including development of risk appetite statements. Drive process enablers such as updates to procedures, controls, technology to completion.
Work closely and constantly with Enterprise Risk Management teams, 1LOD and 2LOD risk category and business teams to collaborate and achieve outcomes.
Lead broader control initiatives (e.g., Managers Control Assessment) and other cross-pillar risk appetite-related projects.
Identify opportunities to simplify, or better connect risk appetite processes with other ERM initiatives and develop a proposal for execution.
Develop a strong understanding of Enterprise Risk Management and work on ad-hoc strategic projects for senior management.
Partner with internal teams to project manage, and/or support on-time delivery of requirements, administration, and closure of issues and corrective actions.
Qualifications:
5-8 years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a risk management, product management, or strategy role.
Experience in executing strategic projects for a large organization.
Ability to learn processes quickly and demonstrated accountability for delivery of outcomes.
Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on collaboration, and the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders.
Self-starter who is proactive, detail-oriented, and not afraid to speak up.
Solid organizational skills.
Naturally curious, interested in diving deep to learn how things work to help connect dots and provide practical solutions.
Education:
Bachelor's/University degree.
