Integration Developer (Permanent Position)
Who are we looking for? We are looking for a qualified, results-driven employee who wants to be part of a collaborative team that is transforming our company’s future with various technologies. The approach by our AMD IT Department is to support our business and manufacturing processes with technology to enable innovation, improve efficiencies and drive business value all within a continuous improvement culture while following & promoting IT best practices.
The successful candidate will leverage their experiences and knowledge, working with a dedicated and multi-departmental collaborative team, to help advance and transform our Integration Software Solutions. These Integration Applications run on multiple platforms (HP-UX, Linux, and Windows), enabling disparate Manufacturing and Business applications to send and receive information to and from each other, thereby providing a layer of isolation and autonomy apart from each other. Technologies currently in use within the Integration Applications include Java, WebLogic, IBM MQ, IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and Oracle PL/SQL. There is a current focus to retire the legacy WebLogic platform and standardize on the IBM ACE platform.
The successful candidate’s job title (Specialist / Sr Specialist / Technical Lead) will be dependent on their qualifications and work experience.
What will you do? This role takes ownership of the full software development cycle related to AM Dofasco’s Integration and Messaging applications, including requirements gathering, design, architecture, development and implementation, as well as ongoing troubleshooting support and maintenance of existing and new implementations.
Ensure that overall integration and messaging designs and implementations deliver the required system performance and reliability, and data security.
Execute documentation, risk analysis planning and reporting for the Integration environment.
Install, configure, and perform upgrades of various software components including IBM MQ, IBM ACE and WebLogic on distributed systems.
Participate in various projects across the enterprise, collaborating with IT application developers and Business / Manufacturing colleagues, and communicating effectively with all stakeholders.
Participate in system monitoring and maintenance, collaborating with IT infrastructure resources who assist with the underlying hardware and operating systems for integration applications.
Primary liaison between the vendor (IBM) and AM Dofasco for Messaging related technologies.
Effectively digest technology trends and communicate complex technology information and potential improvement possibilities to peers and senior management, developing over time into the company architect for Integration and Messaging.
What do you need to succeed? Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar
3+ years of experience designing, developing and implementing integration and messaging solutions.
Experience and expertise administering and using IBM MQ (MQI, JMS)
Experience with administering, programming and troubleshooting integration software such as IBM ACE (formerly IBM Integration Bus (IIB)), Oracle Weblogic, and/or similar technologies.
Proficiency in programming in Java, C++, Shell Scripting.
Proficiency with databases such as Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server
Proficiency with mapping tools (eg. Mapforce, XSLT, XQuery) or alternatives
Experience with Linux, AIX, Windows and Unix.
Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
Capability to manage multiple priorities across several assignments and prioritize effectively
Ability to resolve conflicts/issues and escalate to others as appropriate
Experience with the complete Software Development Life Cycle
The following would be considered as assets:
Working knowledge of infrastructure (operating systems, VM, high availability, disaster recovery, security configuration, system administration, IP infrastructure, domain registration standards)
Experience with SAP integration software tools, for example, SAP PI/PO, CPI
Work Schedule: Working hours are days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required to meet project deadlines or peak workloads.
Flexible start and end times outside core business hours.
This position is eligible for remote work in accordance with our Flexible Work Options Policy.
Potential participation in an off-hours on-call support rotation as required.
