This Flex Veterinary Assistant position primarily supports the technicians and patients within Equine Medicine, and Surgery & Livestock services whose care is being overseen by faculty, residents and interns. This position requires a basic knowledge of various medical procedures, biosecurity surveillance, and proper equipment usage. This position will assist in the case management on a day-to-day basis by providing support services such as stocking, cleaning and maintaining equipment after use, and providing continuity of patient care with the guidance of the primary technician on shift. This position should have the availability to work holidays, overnights, and weekends as we are a 24/7/365 hospital.

Required Job Qualifications

+ HS Diploma or GED plus one (1) year of experience caring for animals or providing animal handling dutiesORHS Diploma or GED and a combination of related education and/or experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to one (1) year.

+ One year (1) experience working in an equine or large animal veterinary hospital. Ability to be flexible as this position may be working with several different Large Animal Services throughout the day depending where the needs are.

+ A strong desire to learn and advance medical and technical knowledge base.

+ Ability to be compassionate and empathetic to clients in emotional situations.

+ Demonstrate experience working with a team which will include veterinary students.

+ Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
