Job Overview 

?Under the direction of the supervising clinical leader, effectively performs all phases of cardiac ultrasound studies according to Department Policy and Procedure in a safe, accurate and timely manner which are necessary to allow the cardiologist to make a cardiological diagnosisPerforms Ultrasound procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Maintains and monitors department suppliesContinuously strives to develop/improve relationships with all customers. 

 

Minimum Qualifications 

1. High School diploma or equivalent required. 

2. Associates degree or two-year certificate program in Cardiac Sonography. 

3. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International. 

4. One (1) year of clinical experience. 

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Completes administrative portion, performs high quality exams and work well independently. 

2. Follows hospital protocol for exam routines and produces quality studies in an efficient, timely manner. 

3. Completes the procedure in an effective and efficient manner, i.e. properly documents all patient information, process reports and files reports in a timely manner, applies appropriate charges within the time frame of the work shift, re-supply stock, clean and prepare exam rooms.  

4. Skillfully operate M-Mode, 2-D, and Doppler modalities, performing study within a timeframe of one hour per patient. 

5. Prepares patient for study in a professional and reassuring manner. 

6. Recognizes abnormalities, takes measurements and notifies physicians of findings to ensure proper diagnosis. 

4. Keeps current of recent advances in the field by attending seminars and various informational meetings. 

5. Educates each patient in a professional manner, explanation includes what the patient should expect and the timeliness of the exam. 

6. Responds to changes and/or stats in the work schedule in a cal and appropriate manner. 

7. Is flexible and will adjust personal schedule to cover shifts, or to complete workload.
