We are looking for emotionally intelligent Resident Workers to act as advocates and help people to improve and better their daily lives and experiences, within specified standards and timescales.nnWhat You Will DonnAdheres to all policies and procedures.nnParticipates in any required training and pass certification including CPR/First Aid Certification.nnAssists in carrying out any activities as indicated on the resident's ILP.nnComplies with 42 CFR confidentiality and HIPAA privacy and security regulations.nnAdheres to agency policies and procedures, and maintains professional relationships with other disciplines, clients, and community supports.nnTrains in working with those who have mental health issues, addictions and substance use/abuse and strategiesnnSupports clients including register, check-in, monitor, assess behavior and overall well-being.nnAdvocates for clients’ needs, making referrals to and collaborating with appropriate resources and community organizations.nnWorks with clients to build planning and life skills.nnMonitor clients’ progress and well-being.nnAssists team in identifying potential challenges and provides input to others.nnUnderstands and keeps in mind systemic issues that affect low income and marginalized people.nnEngages clients including documenting background information and history.nnOrients new arrivals to shelter protocols and policies.nnObserves clients in day-to-day routines: maintains informal contact and develops informal opportunities to assist when needednnAssists with life and problem solving skills and support.nnAssists with bagging and tagging of client property.nnEnsures or assists in meal preparationnnPerforms other duties as requested.nnWho You Will BennHigh School Diploma or GEDnnOne year of experience working with at-risk people who have complex needs in a similar working environment.nnGood interpersonal and communication skillsnnAbility to effectively analyze situations quickly and apply sound judgmentnnAbility to work and build rapport with othersnnKnowledge of community resourcesnnBasic keyboard skills and computer literacy (knowledge of Windows based environment preferred)nnFire safety/guard training is preferred.nnAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishnnFlexibility and patience are required.nnMust be able to multi-tasknnFlexibility to assist at other Residential Programs within the area as needed
