Responsibilities:
- Operate company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Maintain required daily and monthly maintenance records. Report any unsafe vehicle conditions to supervisor.
- Accurately completes fuel and maintenance supply purchases with company supplied credit cards. Plans purchases at locations in order to obtain best values for company.
- Works with Manager in planning efficient truck routes to optimize donation movement and control costs
- Maintain a good understanding of the company's diverse product base and how these products must be handled and loaded in truck and trailer.
- Understands and adheres to specified load limits.
- Pick-up and load donated materials from collection points as directed by supervisor.
- Maintain required donation records.
- Operates hydraulic lift gate in a safe manner.
- Unload donations at stores or warehouse.
- Direct activity of truck helper (if assigned).
- Maintains a good knowledge of the truck operating systems in order to identify problem areas and assist truck maintenance activities.
- Complies with all DOT regulations.
- Keep vehicle clean.
- Responsible for reporting lack of donated goods, observed ADC and store problems during route.
- Ensure proper use of forklift and pallet dock and maintains current license to operate.
- Report accidents immediately.
- Reports absence as soon as possible.
- Communicates to his/her supervisors in a professional manner.
- Keeps all records as required.
- If required, use all safety equipment assigned in a proper manner to improve safety.
- Responsible for the safety of those workers in his/her charge by carefully observing the safety procedures and policies of the company.
- As a staff person is responsible for the safety of those workers in his/her charge via implementation of the safety procedures and policies of the organization.
- Unload bale and pull at warehouse
- Communicate with other employees and customers in professional manner.
- Works nights and/or weekends as required.
- Works in the warehouse when truck driving duties are completed or not immediately assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to three years of experience driving truck and good driving record required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid State of Virginia driver's license and proof of insurance required to drive personal car on company business.
- Additionally, 3+ point DMV record required to drive company vehicle.
- CDL up to Class A may be required depending upon truck assignment.
