CDL A Driver - Paving & Construction
Position Summary: The crew person will operate designated equipment in the application of thermoplastic, and pavement markers to pavement. This is a skilled job requiring training, experience and knowledge of specifications, tolerances, rates of application and other technical tasks. Training new crew members will also be a shared responsibility on the job.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Follow company and state guidelines for effective, safe well managed work zones.
• Wear all required safety equipment.
• Drives truck or tractor-trailer combination with capacity of more than 20 tons, to transport fill, deliver goods, and other materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties
• Drives transportation vehicles to and from job sites, obeying all DOT, OSHA, company safety standards, and state and city laws to ensure public safety
• Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions
• Properly secures cargo for transport and positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo in transit and load and unload truck in accordance with all safety standards
• Prepares receipts for load picked up
• Performs routine inspections and maintenance of truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water
• Reports defects or needed repairs to supervisor or mechanic
• Keeps the truck clean
• Other equipment may be needed.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
• Regularly exposed to outside weather; moving equipment and machinery parts; moving traffic, and fumes and airborne particles.
• Dealing with traveling public effectively.
• The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate/loud.
• Regularly required to stand/walk; reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally lift and/or move lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Requirements
• CDL Class A
• 2 - 3 years of experience necessary for entry level positions
• Knowledge of the traffic control industry with prior traffic control or road construction experience preferred.
• Excellent attendance required, dependable transportation, good work ethic.
• Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Successfully pass a background/ drug screen and meet Federal DOT requirements.
• Awareness of the occupational hazards associated with roadway work.
• Ability to be a vital part of our TEAM.
• Responsibility for performing tasks individually when required.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
