Job Purpose
The Plant Tradesperson is responsible for building maintenance and repair on a variety of equipment including sprinklers, lighting, HVAC and fire suppression systems, as well as general upgrading activities which include maintenance and repair of fixed facilities such as stations, substations and the Maintenance and Storage facility. This position also monitors the various wayside system contractors that maintain fixed facility systems.This is a shift position that supports a 24/7 operation.
Hourly Rate: $27.42
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing preventive & corrective maintenance in stations, substations, and maintenance & storage facility. This includes repair of buildings, stations, sprinklers, air conditioning, heating and fire suppression systems using skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting and minor electrical.
- Interprets maintenance manuals, electrical schematics and drawings to perform necessary repairs * Inspects and performs in-depth troubleshooting and repair of faults in the above systems using the appropriate test equipment.
- Completes assigned tasks to company or industry standards using approved safe work practices and procedures.
- Accounts for all time and materials used in completing each task by filling out daily task sheets and inputting completed work orders using MAXIMO.
- Works independently as well as under direct supervision, and with contractors.
- Uses hand held & electrical tools to complete job tasks.
- Interprets blueprints and schematics to complete job tasks.
Position Requirements:
EDUCATION
A High School Diploma or Equivalent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Formal training in in one or more building trades, such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, plumbing.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Applications and Windows Operating Applications.
- Must be able to operate a company vehicle.
- Ability to operate, fork lifts andcranes.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- You will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
- You will be required to pass a 10-year Homeland Security background check.
- You must possess a valid, unexpired driver's license in accordance with NY State Motor Vehicle regulations.
- You will be exposed to weather conditions.
