Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform all responsibilities of Incoming Inspector I:
Verifies physical properties and size of materials such as plates, sheets, castings, forgings, dies, fixtures, bar stock, and work produced by fabricating machines and secondary operations per documented inspection instructions.
Mechanically or through use of CMM or Vision System, inspects high value, complex and tightly toleranced parts accurately and dependably, utilizing all available types of mechanical and computerized inspection equipment including alternate inspection techniques.
Ability to select correct CMM program, run the program, evaluate the data, and store electronically as required.
Perform inspections to operation instructions or sampling plans which include up to 100% sampling. Must be proficient in precise counting. Must be able to sort and segregate parts which may be found to be discrepant. Clear communication of findings is essential.
Verify external documentation as required by internal or external customer. Paperwork must be checked, then appropriately filed electronically. Must also be able to complete internal paperwork accurately.
Use ERP SYSTEM to log in inspection results, enter in time, maintain material lot codes, and identify status of jobs running within the shop.
Use of Microsoft Office type products to store and file data.
Retrieve tools, gages, and kits per calibration schedule driven by GAGETrak. Create and properly store all required calibration documentation.
Maintain the work area including inspection tool storage areas using 5S principles.
Identifies and selects an inspection technique appropriate for attribute being measured. Actively identifies and uses alternative inspection techniques to validate results.
Create NMRR ( NC / DMR ) via ERP System
Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve quality problems.
In ADDITION to Incoming Inspector I duties, is responsible for the following:
Conduct simple calibrations such as gage pin calibration.
Trains Incoming Inspector I, apprentices, Interns, etc on proper use of equipment, inspection techniques, documentation, and procedures.
Works with minimal supervision and directs Incoming Inspector I, apprentices, Interns, etc
Develops and clearly documents inspection methods for high value, complex and tightly toleranced parts accurately and dependably, utilizing all available types of mechanical and computerized inspection equipment.
Writes and updates incoming inspection methods.
Works with engineers and programmers to develop and set-up incoming inspection instructions for new parts.
Determines the proper disposition and closure of NMRR ( NC / DMR ) within assigned value.
For purchased parts, validates, and performs FAIRs and documents results as required.
Performs 1st & last piece inspection for Assembly area following Inspection Stamp Guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; VoTech Trade school graduate preferred. Strong Mechanical aptitude is preferred. Proficient in a wide variety of machine inspection tools and devices Minimum four years at Machining or three years of inspection experience required.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and machine drawings, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Fluent with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5M. Knowledgeable in Statistical Process Control.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Be able to interpret and use shop floor control and SPC software as required. Familiarity with CMM & Vision system software is a plus. Experience w/ EPICOR ERP is a plus.
