The
Maintenance Supervisor oversees preventative maintenance and repairs. The Maintenance Supervisor promotes a proactive, efficient and service-oriented program aimed at maintaining the fleet in peak operating condition. They provide leadership and direction to a team of technicians, including direct supervision of technicians. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for replacement schedules, preventative maintenance and repair of Company assets, as well as administrative duties such as parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking and cost control.
Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an indvidiual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Oversee the daily operation of the shop.
- Review routine maintenance being performed and document according to Company standards.
- Effectively interact and work with other managers and supervisors within to ensure the most efficient, cost-effective operation of the shop.
- Ensure all systems are operational.
- Comply and ensure adherence to Interstate Waste's standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Meet all financial required reporting and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
- Assist in budget process as required.
- Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the shop(s) through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline technicians according to Interstate Waste's policies and procedures.
- Conduct and/or attend and contribute to weekly safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
- Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
- Ensure that all employees receive fair and equitable treatment.
- Maintain open door policy.
- Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
- Approach all encounters with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Always maintain appropriate confidentiality of all verbal and/or documented information.
- Other special projects and tasks as assigned
Supervisor Responsibilities - This job has supervisor responsibility of union and non-union hourly employees.
Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
Education and Experience - 2+ year experience as a supervisor or foreman/team lead.
- Technical experience working with Industrial heavy equipment used for Construction Sites and Ports.
- Must have experience with Electrical, Air Brakes, Medium and Heavy-Duty Diesel engines and computer aided diagnostics (CAT ET, Cummins Insite, Premium Tech Tool, ect.).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, Spanish bilingual strongly preferred.
- Advanced experience working with fleet management and onboard computing software
- Ability and passion for coaching, mentoring, and training employees.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and other federal and local regulations and requirement
- Excellent safety record
- Valid driver's license required
