Our client is a 30 year old, outstanding Architectural firm located in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. They have gone through significant growth recently and continue to add to their headcount. Currently they are looking to fill the position of Director of Design. This role would have a huge impact on the success of the firm. This person will lead their talented design team and shape the aesthetic and functional direction of their architectural projects. As an integral part of their leadership team, the Director of Design will pioneer innovative design solutions, ensuring that the firm remains at the forefront of architectural excellence in the Sarasota region. This role is part of their Leadership Team and offers a path to potential partnership.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Leadership in Design Principles: Lead the development of core design principles from project conception through completion, ensuring design integrity at every stage.
  • Strategic Firm-Wide Initiatives: Collaborate on initiatives that elevate the firm’s profile in key markets and the design community.
  • Team Development and Leadership: Mentor and manage the design team, organizing weekly meetings to promote growth and collaboration.
  • Innovation and Design Conceptualization: Generate design concepts and conduct precedent research to guide innovative project approaches.
  • Quality Control of Design Outputs: Ensure the graphic quality of all design presentations and documents meets the firm’s high standards.
  • Design Charettes and Collaboration: Organize and participate in design charettes to enhance team brainstorming and project refinement.
  • Client Engagement and Meeting Coordination: Manage client interactions, coordinating and attending important meetings to communicate design strategies.
  • Ambassadorship and Business Development: Serve as a key representative for the firm, promoting its design philosophy both internally and externally.
  • Cultural contribution and Enhancement: Actively contribute to and enhance the company culture, aligning with the firm’s values and inspiring others.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Exceptional design vision and creativity, with the ability to conceptualize and articulate design ideas effectively.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with experience guiding and inspiring a team.
  • Proficiency in architectural software, including but not limited to Revit, InDesign, SketchUp, Enscape and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timeliness and quality.
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on long-term design evolution and innovation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or related field.
  • 15+ years of architectural design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior design role
  • Architectural License
  • Demonstrated portfolio of innovative and impactful design projects.
  • Experience in client relationship management and business development in the architectural industry
