Sr. Manager – Human Resources & Labor Relations
A dynamic opportunity awaits an experienced Human Resources and Labor Relations leader to drive forward HR initiatives for a prominent specialty metals manufacturer . This role will serve as the strategic head of HR at key locations, managing policies, programs, and procedures across multiple sites, and fostering a high-performance culture within a complex manufacturing environment. The position is located Latrobe, PA. This is an onsite-only position. No remote option.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Strategic HR Leadership: Design and implement HR strategies for multiple operational sites, managing both salaried and hourly workforce needs and ensuring effective communication of HR policies.
- Employee Engagement & Communication: Build and sustain positive employee relations through open communication, promoting engagement, satisfaction, and retention efforts.
- Labor Relations Oversight: Oversee the labor relations function at a primary facility, providing counsel and coaching to site leaders, managers, and employees on workplace matters such as performance, equal employment, and ADA guidelines.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop an HR team, setting clear KPIs to encourage a collaborative, innovative environment that emphasizes safety, improvement, and operational excellence.
- Policy & Procedure Management: Supervise investigations, handle employee complaints, and manage conflict resolution along with exit interviews to maintain a positive workplace atmosphere.
- Workforce Monitoring: Track workforce morale, engagement, and satisfaction while remaining alert to any organized labor activities.
- Safety and Compliance: Encourage a safety-driven culture and collaborate on HR communications impacting site-wide workforce initiatives.
- Special Projects: Manage various projects and support cross-functional efforts as needed.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or related field; a Master’s degree is a strong asset.
- 15+ years of HR experience with 10+ years in labor relations, including hands-on contract negotiations (lead negotiator experience preferred).
- Union Experience is a Must - Must have Managed the HR/Labor Relations for a manufacturing company which has a Union.
- Expertise in core HR areas such as organizational development, employee advocacy, talent acquisition, compensation, and strategic workforce planning.
- Proven track record in manufacturing or technical environments, with exposure to organizations recognized for progressive HR practices.
- Skilled in data-informed decision-making with a strategic outlook.
- Familiar with current HR practices, value-adding HR services, and methods for continuous process quality improvements.
- Broad understanding of labor laws, regulatory issues, and external factors affecting HR and the industry.
- Ability to navigate and resolve complex, cross-functional business challenges.
- Strong coaching abilities to provide performance feedback and growth opportunities within teams and departments.
- Exceptional presence, communication skills, and ability to interact confidently across various business contexts.
- Results-oriented, proactive, and adept at influencing outcomes through creative thinking and resourceful problem-solving.
- Strong business acumen, able to prioritize actions that lead to improved performance and address potential future challenges.
