We are looking for a senior underwriter to underwrite new loans. The Underwriter will analyze business and personal financial information to assess credit capacity and the nature and quality of the underlying borrower. In addition to new loan underwriting, the Underwriter will be proactive in portfolio management projects, loan closings, and post-closing projects, including requests for follow-on financing.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Underwrite, structure, negotiate and close specialized lines of credit including warehouse facilities, leveraged loans, subscription facilities, borrowing base deals, unsecured lines to broker-dealers, and asset-based finance (aircraft, insurance/life settlement)
- Deliver financial, industry, economic and operational analysis to facilitate decision marking, while also ensuring adherence to credit policies, guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements
- Drive the internal credit approval process and present deals to Senior Management and loan committees
- Ongoing portfolio management including monitoring client’s operating performance and financial condition to proactively identify issues and opportunities
- Maintain and cultivate an effective working relationship with Internal (originations, legal, accounting, compliance, operations, senior management) and External clients (borrowers, external counsel, specialized consultants)
- Develop and mentor junior staff
- Identify, develop and lead the implementation of policy and process improvements
Job Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of solid experience in financial analysis, structuring, underwriting and portfolio management
- Demonstrates strong judgement and sound credit decisioning skills
- Strong communication and analytical/technical skills, including financial accounting, modeling and loan structuring
- Credit underwriting and structuring experience
- Broad understanding of leveraged lending and regulatory capital guidelines
- Strong understanding of debt capital markets execution and syndication
- Understanding of BSA/Compliance requirements for large corporates, private equity firms and asset managers
The salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 - $150,000 + bonus + benefits
