Job Description
The Quality Manager position is a support function for sales, purchasing, and operation
departments and ensuring that our customer receives the highest quality product through the
consistent application of our established quality management system.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Needs:
-To perform this job successfully, an individual must have practical experience with carbon steel
specifications such as ASTM and SAE Industry Standards. Knowledge of JIS Standards with emphasis on
Nissan, Honda, and Toyota is also necessary
-Strong background in the application & auditing of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 Quality Systems. Must have
exceptionally good Problem-Solving skills. Additional background in Lean manufacturing techniques is
also a plus.
-Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in metallurgy or three to five years of quality / metallurgy related experience
and/or training in the steel processing industry is required
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Additional knowledge of Aluminum and Stainless is a plus
Essential Duties:
Responsible for the oversight and management of the SteelSummit Cincinnati Quality Management
System and the third-party registration process.
Responsible for managing and coordinating all Internal and External (Customer and Third Party) audits as
well as providing technical support for all ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949:2016 QMS related activities.
Work with other plant Quality Managers to maintain and update our Process Flow Maps, Control Plans,
and FMEAs, as necessary.
Responds to all customer complaints and rejections. This includes the collecting of samples, visiting
customers for review and sales support, determining disposition of material in question, and initiating
claims to the Suppliers for any rejections resulting from nonconforming material.
Manages all in-house/outside processor rejects related to Supplier defects. This includes the
coordination of all documentation needed to aid in the Supplier claim process, such as samples, pictures,
inspection reports, and incoming receiving reports regarding nonconforming material. The Quality
Manager is responsible for the timely disposition of defective material & corrective actions.
Assist Sales, Operations and Purchasing with any customer complaints and or quality related issues,
including corrective actions requested by customers. Also assist all departments with internal corrective
action techniques and follow through. Quality Manager will track both internal and external corrective
actions.
Produce reports for monthly Quality Council Meetings consisting of Internal, External rejects, Material
Holds, Corrective Actions, and On-time Delivery.
Manage all material placed on hold for any quality reasons and ensure timely disposition.
Manage Outside Processors concerning quality rejections, corrective actions and auditing their Quality
System to ensure products produced meet SSH's & our customers specifications/expectations.
Review all material discrepancies found at time of receipt meets purchase order requirements.
Review and approve material cross-applications as needed.
Review and approve new/revised Customer Part Specifications (CPS)
Submit PPAP's and IMDS request as required by customers.
Submit Conflict Materials form as required by customers.
Submit NAFTA Certificate of Origin as required by customer.
Witness trial orders for new customers & new suppliers run at SSTN and/or Outside Processors. Also, witness initial orders run at a new Outside Processor.
