Our company’s measurable growth is in no small part due to our team members in North Carolina, Arkansas, Illinois, and Missouri, who each have a seat at the table to contribute to our success Job Summary: The Accounting Specialist II plays a crucial role in maintaining the Company’s financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and contributes to the overall success of the Finance Department. This individual will be responsible for the accounting functions related to the Feed Mill and Live Operations (Ops). Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities: Processes, verifies, and organizes weekly plant settlements and documentation. Provides servicemen with accurate and timely closeout information weekly. Verifies flock charges, including feed returns, medication, and supply charges. Handles the reconciliation of all Brooder Move transfers and Poult Placements on a weekly basis. Backs the Live Ops Accounting Supervisor with general ledger by recording transactions, preparing journal entries, and conducting account reconciliations. Ensures accurate execution of weekly grower settlement payments within the contract time frame. Tracks grower deductions such as Housing Improvement Plans, Mid Flock Advances, and Propane. Prepares and reconciles grower accounts receivable (AR). Sustains positive relationships with employees, leadership, vendors, and growers by addressing questions, providing documentation, and resolving flock accounting issues. Compiles grower payment data and maintains the Grower Tax ID file used for 1099s. Updates and maintains Vendor/ Grower/Bank Assignment information in M-Tech. Processes invoices with corresponding purchase orders (POs), verifying accuracy, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring timely payments to vendors. Performs general office and accounting duties, including filing and mail management. Supports with internal and external audit requests as needed. Maintains and updates standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the Live Ops Accounting department. Assists other accounting positions within Live Ops Accounting and trains cross-functionally to serve as backup. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Detailed oriented with a high level of accuracy and precision. Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Capability of operating independently, under direct supervision, and collaboratively with other stakeholders. Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. Demonstrates the ability to tackle issues, inquiries, and concerns promptly and proactively. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards. Proficient in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and accounting software such as M-Tech, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar. Education & Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required. Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, or related field. Will consider a combination of education & experience in lieu of a degree. 3 years of accounting experience with an emphasis on cost accounting. Prior work experience in industries such as Manufacturing, Food Manufacturing, or Retail is preferred. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment with telephones, personal computers, and printers. The noise level of the environment is usually moderate. Sedentary position with seldom to occasional lifting of less than 15 pounds. May require standing less than or equal to 1/3 of the day. Flexibility and willingness to work overtime and additional shifts as required, including weekends, and holidays if necessary. Willingness and ability to travel up to 5% of time.
