Civil / Structural Engineering Project Engineer Job Summary
We are looking for an ambitious and energetic Civil / Structural Engineering Project Engineer. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in Civil and Structural engineering in relation to modeling jackets and decks and be familiar with codes, principles, analysis and design with a desire to learn more. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and travel offshore a few times a year to the Gulf of Mexico.
Civil / Structural Engineering Project Engineer Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design tasks in structural steel, reinforced concrete and wood structures, shallow and deep foundations using governing codes and standards
- Perform both static as well as dynamic analysis
- Develop and review shop drawings
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering design documents
- Perform site investigations / field activities such as-built drawing development for existing structures, observation of construction progress and existing field conditions such as corrosion damage, loading, etc
- Prepare engineering technical reports, engineering calculation packages; assist in the preparation of design drawings and specifications
- Support the preparation of project models, design plans, specifications, and the coordination with other design disciplines as required to deliver high quality engineering services
- Utilize a broad assortment of technical and critical thinking skills on projects that range from small modifications and/or repairs to large scale new construction
Civil / Structural Engineering Project Engineer Position Requirements
- Degree from ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural preferred
- Ability to use Bentley SACS a must
- Knowledge and experience of structural engineering concepts, principles and practices for offshore platforms
- Field experience, a plus
- Majority of the experience must be in Offshore structures with concentration in Brownfield, Repairs, Modifications, Strengthening and Integrity Management
- Candidate must have experience in using the following design codes: AISC, ASCE and API RP 2A
- Registered Professional Engineer or intent to pursue professional licensure is preferred
- Proven skills in the areas of calculations, beam element modeling and analysis, and possess ability to work on more than one project at one time
- Recent experience using AutoCAD is a plus
- CAESAR II, Solidworks, ANSYS, Orcaflex software are a plus
- The candidate will be expected to handle all aspects of designated projects, set realistic goals and have drafts, information and recommendations made within specified time frames
- The candidate may be required to present projects and recommendations to client and work closely with other technical teams
- The candidate must be flexible, adaptable, and responsive to shifts in priorities
- Ability to obtain offshore training qualifications
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are a fundamental requirement for the successful candidate
