The Beacon has an immediate opening for a part-time Guest Services Specialist. Our Guest Services Specialists serve as the primary link between guests and the services and resources they need to help them find stability. Developing and maintaining trusting relationships, problem solving systematic hurdles, and being a support while connecting is at the heart of this work. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking part-time work and/or a supplemental income!We offer the following:$20.53/hour.16-24 hours per week with a schedule consisting of variable days and a flexible schedule.$500 unlimited Employee Referral bonus!For those working 30+ hours per week:HealthDentalVisionLife, AD&D, Long Term DisabilityShort Term Disability (working 20+ hours)Accident, Critical and Hospital Indemnity Insurnace (working 20+ hours)FSAs and HSA403(b) Retirement Plan (with 6% company match after 1 year) (working 20+ hours)PTO (working 20+ hours)10 Holidays (working 20+ hours and or direct care)Employee Referral ProgramPrincipal AccountabilitiesGuest Services:Coordinates and monitors all things essential to quality and efficient delivery of on-site and off-site services and resources to guests at The Beacon; identifying areas of need or improvement and implementing appropriate changes with director's knowledge.Builds trusting relationships with guests, assisting them with their individual plans by making referrals to appropriate services, and monitoring their well-being.Implements evidence-based empowerment curricula with guest individuals and groups and facilitates on-site group sessions on relevant topics.Enhances skills and stays informed of current research and best practices in empowering individuals struggling with homelessness through ongoing educational opportunities and training.Develops and maintains close relationships with community service providers by meeting with them periodically in person about effective service delivery.Monitors scheduling of on-site providers to ensure guests receive individual services in a timely fashion.Monitors general needs of full-time staff and helps wherever requested.Assists with keeping The Beacon in clean, sanitized, and orderly condition.Professional Operations:In partnership with the entire Day Resource Center Team staff and volunteers, this position is responsible for ensuring that the experiences of guests at The Beacon are positive, successful, and empowering.Certifies accurate intake and needs assessment procedures for each guest in compliance with Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) for the State of Wisconsin.RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.Must have valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.Ability to work weekend shifts.Experience using MS Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.Working with people who have mental health and substance abuse issues preferred but not required.Experience with homelessness services preferred but not required.Friendly, welcoming, empathic, and tolerant with excellent listening and communication skills.Demonstrates critical thinking, professional judgment, and the ability to work autonomously.Knowledge of Dane County/Madison resources for people who are homeless preferred but not required.Passionate about helping others succeed.Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds and tolerate medium to physical effort including walking, standing, lifting, stooping, squatting, bending, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling.
