MPL Electrical Reliability Supervisor
The Electrical Reliability Supervisor leads a team of specialists and engineers to implement MPL’s electrical maintenance and reliability processes. This position supports a wide variety of electrical equipment including but not limited to medium and low voltage power distribution equipment, motors, transformers, protection equipment, UPS systems, and equipment monitoring systems. The position provides leadership on maintenance and reliability scope ranging from day-to-day operational support to strategic improvements and projects.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Provides visible leadership in the application of MPL’s Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) and Process Performance Assessments (PPAs) for continuous improvement of MPL Goals and Strategies associated with electrical equipment design and reliability.
2. Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders including MPL Operating Regions, Operations and Logistics, Training, Environmental and Safety, L3S, Terminals, G&P and Refining.
3. Provide updates on current status and path forward for equipment maintenance and breakdown activities to all applicable stakeholders, including the Reliability Engineering Manager.
4. Creates a high-performing team environment. Provides feedback through day-to-day oversight and the performance review process to develop personnel.
5. Ensures team receives adequate training and builds awareness of MPL and industry standards to develop expertise in areas of responsibility.
6. Demonstrates strong commitment to teamwork, communication, collaboration, continuous improvement, and diversity/inclusion in-line with MPC and MPL values.
7. Individually and through their team supports MPL day-to-day operations on equipment inspection, testing, preventative maintenance, and repairs. Actively participates on applicable Stop Help Start (SHS) calls.
8. Provides key input regarding technician training and safety practices related to electrical equipment, maintenance, and reliability including MPL’s level III tasks and processes.
9. Supports critical spare reviews for applicable in-service equipment and planned projects.
10. Establishes preventative maintenance practices for electrical equipment.
11. Develops reliability processes to evaluate equipment performance with a focus on condition-based maintenance and predictive analytics.
12. Completes reliability failure analyses (RFAs) to understand equipment breakdowns and identify where improvement is needed to mitigate risk.
13. Implements operational engineering practices to solve complex engineering problems which may span across multiple MPL departments and operating areas.
14. Leverages Design Process to ensure MPL project solutions are efficient and effective. Supports asset construction and commissioning through field specialists and subject matter expert involvement.
15. Reviews all MPL electrical equipment standards and advises on variance practices. Ensures Management of Change (MOC) reviews are completed for assigned processes.
16. Provides oversight of assigned projects and financial responsibilities including support of capital and expense budget development, review and justification of new project PIFs, review of DSP/AFE’s, financial approvals and in-house projects.
17. Builds and maintains contacts with vendors to ensure key technical and business relationships are in-place to support MPL operational needs. Applies relationships to identify emerging equipment trends which may benefit MPL.
18. Represents MPL on external industry or regulatory activities related to role.
19. Provides support for Growth projects including interfacing with Business Development on external commercial activities when applicable.
Experience and requirements:
Degree : Bachelor of Science in Engineering required, BSEE preferred.
Location : Findlay, OH
Experience : 7-10 years; familiarity with medium voltage systems/equipment, NEC and electrical safety practices
Travel : 0-20%
