PART-TIME CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE TAX ASSESSOR-COLLECTOR'S OFFICE Hourly:$13.00 SECTION I-JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: (State Purpose and General Responsibilities) Under general supervision, the primary role of the customer service representative (CSR) is to interact with customers, answer questions and provide information related to the service the Cameron County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office offers. A CSR will often guide a customer on the requirements needed for motor vehicle registration renewals, vehicle ownership changes, disability placards or plates, and provide needed forms for related transactions; assists with property tax bill questions, delinquent payment agreement information, and guides a customer on requirements for a homestead exemption application. May perform a variety of clerical and manual work in sorting and distributing mail, reports, checks and other documents between offices for the Tax Assessor-Collector's Office. Additional duties may involve sorting and distributing incoming mail, delivering mail to the postage center for outgoing mail, and making interdepartmental mail deliveries. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary according to area of assignment. Employee reports to the Chief Deputy or to the assigned Supervisor. Provides general information regarding Tax Office procedures to the general public; answers the telephone and assists taxpayers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (State the fundamental duties and tasks) - Communicates with customers to answer questions
- Listen to customers' concerns, issues and questions
- Resolve customers' concerns and answer customers' questions to your best ability
- Maintain a positive attitude and calmly respond to customers' complaints
- Refer issues and questions to managers if necessary
- Sorts and delivers incoming mail to interoffice departments, delivers checks to the County Auditor and County Treasurer; gathers and processes outgoing mail.
- Sorts payments and stubs for remittance processing.
- Answers the telephone and assists taxpayers.
- May be required to perform other duties to ensure that the overall function of the County Tax Office does not fail in its commitment as required by the Tax Assessor/Collector.
- Any other duties as directed.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Valid Texas Driver's License. Must provide a no criminal record report.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical requirements include the ability to lift, carry and set up equipment up to 50 pounds, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment. Subject to working after-hours, weekends and holidays, outdoors in hot, cold, humid, windy or dry conditions. Subject to standing for long periods of time, walking, sitting, repetitive motion, reaching, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, balancing, client/customer contact, squatting, to perform the essential functions. May be assigned and/or transferred to other inter office departments and/or Branch Tax Offices throughout the county
