As a senior member of a high-performing communications team, prepare, schedule and execute communications strategies for designated internal and external audiences that support the business priorities of BMO Private Wealth and help produce results. Research, write, edit and project manage communication initiatives to support a broad range of projects and activities across multiple audiences and channels. Provide strategic communications counsel and a superior level of service to designated partners with respect to assigned projects, many of which are derived through a cross-functional framework.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence, an ability to partner with a diverse group of business partners, and significant experience in communication planning and execution as well as the financial services industry. They must be dedicated to developing communications of the highest quality, while ensuring that all messaging and strategies are consistent with brand standards and aligned with the firm’s strategy business priorities.
This position requires skills in the areas of strategy, communications, creative thinking, decision-making acumen, negotiation and problem solving, while demonstrating personal integrity and honesty.

Strategy and Planning
Work with assigned Head Office partners to develop strategic communications plans – actively leading the planning process for these partners.
Actively participate in regular Editorial meetings to strategize, prioritize and schedule distribution of messaging across the business.
Develop strategic direction for business-specific and BMO Private Wealth Intranet channels.
Execution
Develop communications in support of assigned Head Office partners – providing writing and editorial services, approvals, translation and design facilitation services, as well as communication distribution.
Ensure messaging is timely, co-ordinated and relevant to the respective audiences to which it is being delivered.
Secure all necessary approvals when implementing communications strategies and plans – ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and LOB communication standards.
Make certain that all communications housed within digital channels is kept updated to assist internal parties in accessing the most recent information, including Intranet, SharePoint, Salesforce site, regulatory files and internal databases.
Ensure corporate translation policy is maintained and all messaging is made available simultaneously in both English and French.
Champion a straight-talk communications style that promotes transparency in writing style.
Assert an expert role in the preparation and execution of all types of communications initiatives, acting as a “go-to” resource for colleagues and partners on best practices with respect to strategy and execution.
Seek out opportunities to apply new and innovative approaches to reaching internal audiences with respect to the firm’s suite of products and services.
Analysis and Measurement
Develop strategies and tools to measure, analyze and report on the effectiveness of communications initiatives – making recommendations for improvements based on insights, best practices and business objectives.
Risk Management and Control
Ensure proper adherence to all aspects of BMO’s First Principles, Code of Conduct and Ethics.
Manage risk by ensuring all content for external consumption meets all applicable requirements under the applicable securities regulatory bodies and agencies.
Protect the Bank’s assets by adhering to all banking, investment and lending regulations (as appropriate), Policies and Procedures, legal and ethical requirements, process requirements, bank guidelines and established risk guidelines.
Maintain systems put in place to comply with compliance requirements to maintain all approved client materials on file for seven years.

Experience and Education:
Degree in Journalism or Communications
Significant experience in a communications-related position, with at least 5 years of experience as a communicator within a financial services organization preferred.
Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course or other industry credentials would be a definite asset.
Salary: $68,000.00 - $126,000.00
Pay Type: Salaried
The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
