Job Description

University of Maryland Joseph Medical Center (UM-SJMC), a member hospital of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has an immediate opening for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their inpatient Spine Surgery team of 3 surgeons and 6 APPs. This position manages patients pre-and post-spine surgery both in the office, peri-operatively in the hospital, including first-assisting in the OR. 

  • M-F (office hours, First Assisting in OR), night and weekend call
  • 1-2 years of Spine surgery care experience highly preferred
  • NPs must have Acute Care certification & RNFA
  • Will consider new graduates

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  1. For NPs, Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program required. For PAs, Master's degree Physician Assistant required.
  2. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required. NPs must hold Acute Care NP certification
  3. Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
  4. DEA and CDS eligible
