The PCA encourages residents to function at their highest level of independence and to participate in community activities. Conducts activities and provides for a meaningful experience for all residents. Responsible for ensuring a pleasurable dining experience and marketing the community in a positive and professional manner.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCC, RN/LPN, or ED)Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the positionAssists residents with activities of daily livingPerform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc. as directed by supervisorRespond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alertsMust be able to remain calm and competent during emergenciesAssists in planning and conducting activity programs for residentsFollows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident informationAssists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activitiesChecks on residents, ensures attendance at meals and activitiesChecks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individualsCommunicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfersAssists new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional supportOther duties as assignedRequirementRequirements:Must have a High School Diploma or GEDMust have successfully completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations as applicable (see below)Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in-writingMust be organized and able to work well with all levels of personnelMust be a contributing member of nursing team and follow instruction of supervisorMust be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all timesMust be able to walk and stand for extended periods of timeMust be able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbsMust be able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanicsMust be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badgeMust be CPR/First Aid certified, or be willing to become certified within 60 days of hireMust be able to represent the community in a positive and professional mannerMust attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetingsMust be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidaysLocation Specific Requirements:North Carolina:Must have successfully completed an 80-hour personal care training and competency training program.Pennsylvania:Direct care staff shall have the following qualifications per Company policy and PA 55 ยง 2600.54Must have a high school diploma, GED diploma, or active registry status on the Pennsylvania nurse aide registry.Must be 18 years of age or older. Exception: an individual who is 16 or 17 years of age may be a staff person, but may not perform the tasks related to medication administration. A staff person of 16 or 17 years of age may not perform tasks related to incontinence care, bathing, and dressing of residents without supervision.Be free from a medical condition, including drug or alcohol addiction that would limit the staff person from providing necessary personal care services with reasonable skill and safety.
