JOB SUMMARY: To operate a Roll Off trash truck in accordance with D.O.T. regulations and Company policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Drives a roll-off truck according to established subscription routes or municipal territories, servicing all assigned customers courteously and timely.
- Operates the roll-off truck according to local, state and federal D.O.T. observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Transports and dumps municipal trash at a regulated transfer station or approved landfill.
- Check in with dispatch to insure all stops are picked -up. Must get approval from dispatch before returning to the shop
- Obtain load weight tickets and sign for load.
- Maintains any related records required, e.g. driver's log, route sheets, work orders, special request work, missed logs, etc
- Cleans truck cab and body daily.
- Performs daily all duties and inspections identified in the vehicle pre and post trip Vehicle Condition Report. Reports any maintenance malfunctions on the Vehicle Condition Report and reports it to the maintenance shop supervisor.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - May be required to fill in driving a Dump Truck, Rear Load or Front Load trash vehicle if properly trained and approved for the same.
- Must clean out cab on a daily basis and at the end of the work for the day, park the vehicle in its designated spot.
- Create a maintenance work order via the Vehicle Condition Report for the shop manager to schedule for completion. Do not drive any vehicle that is not approved for service.
- Must abide by Company policy and attendance requirements.
- Must notify the Company immediately of any accident, traffic violation, or license suspension.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: - Valid state commercial drivers license (CDL Class B or equivalent).
- Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with personnel at pick up or drop off points.
- Requires high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of a roll-off truck and in preventing damage to truck, equipment or surrounding items.
- Frequently sitting in truck cab for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and move 75-pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, get into and out of truck cab unassisted, and perform all required Vehicle Condition Report checks/inspections unassisted.
- Must meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening; as a safety sensitive employee subject to random substance abuse screening under Department of Transportation or Company policy.
- Ability to climb up and on to roll off containers and trap them by hand. Containers are up to eight (8) feet high.
