Job DescriptionWELCOME TO AMERICAN NTN BEARING MANUFACTURINGWe are a highly automated Tier 1 supplier of wheel-bearing hubs for the automotive industry located in Elgin, IL. We are part of NTN, the world's third largest bearing manufacturer, we have over 75 plants worldwide and over 100 years of premium quality to our name.The production planner coordinates production workflow for multiple products while prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPlan and direct Production and Inventory Control for Operations to insure customer commits and Inventor objectives are metCoordinate Operations planning process to ensure that there is material and capacity available to support both Customer commitments and forecastDirect the Inventory team to ensure that process controls are in place that will allow accurate Cycle countingCoordinate production team to insure schedule and customer deliveries are met. Work directly with Purchasing to insure purchased material is available to meet the scheduled requirementsStay current with software development, provide on-site technical expertise for the ERP system and write reports as requiredIdentify software procedural improvements to the Operations process to eliminate wasteRelay relevant information to management regarding material shortages, potential schedule interruptions, and possible equipment maintenance that would affect a smooth and timely production inputAnalyze customer demand information, forecast, orders, labor, and material availability and develop a flexible yet efficient master scheduleReview part availability including quality approval prior to schedulingREQUIREMENTSMinimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing operations, including manufacturing systems, product costing and planningExperience with and a demonstrable knowledge in Tier II MRP system(s)Proven experience in a senior planning roleQuality control process knowledgeFluent in MS OfficeDemonstrating excellent interpersonal communication skillsStrong organization and problem-solving skills; a strong team player Ability to lead process improvement projects to drive inventory reductions or work flow improvementsKnowledge of manufacturing principles and operationsPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile and may have to lift up to 40 pounds. The employee is also required to interact with a computer, and communicate with peers and coworkers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Bump caps, steel toe safety shoes, and safety glasses are required in all production areas.
