Description The Parts Counter Sales personnel will assist in making the Parts Department a profitable center by focusing on providing excellent customer service using established customer sales standards.
Major Duties and Responsibilities: - Determine replacement part required, according to inspection of old part, customer request, or customer description of the malfunction
- Advise customer on substitution or modification of part when identical replacement is not available
- Utilize computer to determine part stock number and price
- Demonstrate equipment to customer and explain functioning of equipment
- Prepare sales slip or sales contract
- Receive and fill telephone orders for parts
- Inspect returned part for defects and exchange defective part or refund money
- Keep inventory control on cores to be returned
- Fill salesmen's orders for new truck parts
- Prepare wreck estimates and fax to customer
- Keep display area updated, organized, and priced according to sales fliers
- Keep work area neat and organized
- Assist in taking physical inventory of stock
- Complete training requirements for the parts department
- Attend scheduled parts meetings
Qualifications Education/Training or Experience: - High School diploma or GED required
- Diploma from Technical College preferred
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills required
- General knowledge of trucks, truck parts, and the trucking industry preferred
