A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT As a Construction Superintendent, you play a key role in supervising many telecommunications infrastructure construction types, including managing day to day construction operations for federal government projects. You must possess knowledge in every stage of the construction process and have the ability to supervise multiple subcontractors. Construction experience working on DoD and USACE projects is desired.
Your project supervision activities include, but limited to, coordinate, plan and supervise subcontractors and/or craft activities ensuring adherence to plans and specifications; monitor contractor production, schedule and performance; manage subcontractor's daily production reports; complete contractor's daily reports and inspections; problem solving and performing repairs on any required work-related equipment; assist subcontractors with federal procedures and rules; and manage subcontractor base access issues.
You will be responsible for the establishment of project scheduling for construction activities including, but not limited to, develop and maintain CPM schedule; work with stakeholders to understand changes; plan and communicate course corrections to achieve milestones; hold subcontractors accountable to established schedules; measure and report on projected vs. actual baseline schedule throughout the project's construction; and understand/evaluate risk and cost of overtime schedules. Additionally, you will review and monitor job costs with Project Managers; manage the labor recap process; review of personnel timecards to ensure accuracy and appropriate job charging; ensure correct Davis Bacon job classifications are used; and manage purchase orders along with comparisons to budgets.
When needed, you will provide coaching and mentoring when supervising personnel in matters of construction practices and techniques; foster and encourage an enjoyable working environment; identify and recruit professional and craft construction personnel; and work in coordination with the company's Project Managers, ensuring project personnel are adequately trained and accountable for their functions. You will ultimately be responsible for overall quality control on your construction projects; manage deficiency list process to ensure visibility and close tracking of items on a routine basis to minimize punch lit items at project closeout; clearly communicate to appropriate staff project changes and implementation of the changes; and always maintain a clean and safe physical environment.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT - Five (5) years of previous Superintendent experience on federal government projects.
- Ability to travel to various construction sites located in Colorado (50-75% traveling).
- Degree in engineering, architecture or construction management preferred.
- Skilled in monitoring all onsite construction trades.
- Skilled in monitoring and leading jobsite safety.
- Preferred/required training in OSHA 30, EM385-2-1, USACE CQM certification and CPR/1st Aid Certification.
- Skilled with troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving.
- Ability to successfully pass and remain in compliance with required background checks from Tribal 1 and any required federal government background checks.
- Individual must be either a citizen of the U.S. or a non-U.S. citizen who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence as evidenced by a Permanent Resident Card (USCIS I-551).
- Must pass drug screen and remain in compliance with drug free workplace policies.
- Valid driver's license.
