Certification Details BLS ACLS PALS State Licensure Job Details PICU EXPERIENCE REQUIRED A 20 bed fast paced, high acuity unit with a 1:2 nurse ratio. Patients are aged 2 weeks to 26 years old. Populations include respiratory disease and failure, neuro disease, DKA, Level 1 Trauma, pediatric surgery, non-accidental trauma, hematology/oncology complications, sepsis and metabolic disease. Skills include the care of an intubated and ventilated patient, care for patients with central and dialysis lines, chest tubes, EVD’s, NG’s, foleys, ICP bolts and lumbar drains. In addition the nurse should be competent in the administration of sedative and vasoactive drips, epidural medication, blood products, and emergency medications.
