Job Purpose and Impact The Senior Capital Project Engineer will plan, support, and execute capital project engineering deliverables at our Wahpeton, ND facility. The facility includes several operations departments including a wet will, animal feed, utilities, and sweetener refinery. The position will primarily focus on mid-sized capital projects from design to startup, while overseeing construction management and considering safety, schedule, efficiency, cost management and documentation. This professional will actively develop and apply engineering standards, project management procedures, and provide advice on issues within their engineering scope. This role will manage the development and execution of the site capital budget. Key Accountabilities Lead the development of capital project scope, schedule, and budget while following project management deliverables and best practices. Lead the development of site five-year capital plan and manage the project portfolio. Coordinates staffing and development of construction, commissioning and start-up plans and assists operations in troubleshooting and optimization activities. Perform process engineering for individual projects as needed to meet project objectives. Lead equipment specification and procurement and develop, review and award bid packages for equipment and labor. Analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems, or the causes of component failures. Design and improve manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment, and testing manufactured products to maintain quality. Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff. Informally lead, mentor and coach early career engineers through hands-on training and project work. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience Minimum of four years of related work experience Preferred Qualifications Mechanical, Chemical or Ag/Biosystems Engineering degree Demonstrated ability to execute capital projects or portfolio of projects. Previous experience in chemical, food or related industry Ability and desire to work hands on in fast paced and technical plant environment. Experience leading others through project work- mentoring, coaching, or supervising. Lean six sigma green belt certified or desire to gain w/in first two years.
