Our client, an established business law firm across Canada, is seeking a Corporate Finance Lawyer to join their growing offices in Ottawa or Toronto on a hybrid basis. If successful, you'll be working with a wide range of tax-related files, with a primary focus on working alongside their corporate finance and M&A teams.

Competitive salary of $180,000-$200,000

About you

To be considered, you will need

• 8+ years of Canadian tax experience, particularly in tax structuring for venture capital-backed financing and M&A transactions
• Currently located or plan to relocate to Ottawa or Toronto
• Knowledgeable of the corporate tax process
• A team player and able to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Ability to build working relationships with third-party advisors and clients

About the role

If successful, you will:

• Provide tax expertise on corporate finance and M&A transactions
• Work closely with corporate finance and M&A teams to integrate tax considerations into transaction structures
• Advise on the tax implications of proposed transactions
• Conduct or oversee tax-related due diligence and assist with tax disclosures
• Develop, assist with, and oversee the implementation of tax-driven restructuring plans
• Stay updated on tax laws and regulations
• Prepare and review tax documentation
• Collaborate with other departments on tax-related matters
