A Corrections Dentist provides dental care to incarcerated individuals, focusing on both preventative and restorative services. They perform oral examinations, diagnose dental conditions, carry out treatments such as extractions, fillings, and emergency procedures, and educate patients on oral health. Additionally, they work collaboratively within the correctional healthcare team to ensure dental health as part of the overall medical care provided in the facility. Dentist Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive exams to diagnose and treat dental diseases, injuries, and malformations. Restore teeth and construct dentures and other dental appliances. Extract teeth and roots, and place implants as needed. Suture facial lacerations within and around the oral cavity. Prescribe medications for pain relief, infection control, and management of viral, bacterial, and fungal infections. Dentists Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited dental school. Licensed Dentist in the state of Michigan. Skilled in patient assessment, management, and documentation. Relates well to diverse patient needs and situations. Strong interpersonal skills for team collaboration. Upholds integrity and confidentiality in all tasks. Adaptable to organizational changes. Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
