Position Summary:
As the Safety Coordinator, you will be pivotal in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. Your role involves supporting environmental, health, and safety initiatives, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT. You will coach and train employees on safety protocols and foster engagement in the safety process.
Responsibilities:
- Internal Process Management:
- Ensure safety and risk management across organizational processes.
- Align with core values of UNITY, ACCOUNTABILITY, and RESPONSIBILITY.
- Maintain a safe working environment and prevent incidents.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Review and update safety training and protocols.
- Assess and mitigate risks, including safety controls and training.
- Investigate accidents/incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Analyze injury statistics and develop action plans to reduce incidents.
- Compliance with Regulations:
- Adhere to relevant laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including OSHA logs and injury reports.
- Coordinate with Workers Compensation providers and manage injury documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA health standards and participate in annual meetings.
- Integration of Safety into Culture:
- Work with teams to integrate safety protocols.
- Develop and deliver safety training and orientation.
- Conduct safety audits and site visits.
- Fleet Management:
- Plan and manage fleet vehicle replacements and budgets.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance, registration, and outfitting.
- Track fleet metrics and manage asset lifecycle.
- Safety Advocacy:
- Support employee training and development in safety.
- Lead audits, track findings, and ensure compliance with safety programs.
- Build relationships and engage with team members on safety practices.
- Financial Management:
- Manage safety program budgets and improvements.
- Handle worker’s compensation cases to minimize costs.
- Continuous Learning:
- Stay updated with industry trends and regulations.
- Obtain relevant certifications such as CSP or OHST.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 3-5 years of practical safety experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel and work nonstandard hours.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and work extended hours if needed.
- Proficiency in office work with moderate noise levels.
