We are seeking a motivated Buyer / Planner for a 12-week project to manage materials planning and purchasing activities that support production schedules. This role involves sourcing a range of nonstandard, specialized, and custom equipment and materials. Strong knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical product specifications and supplier networks is ideal. The Buyer / Planner will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to optimize inventory levels and contribute to the project’s objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the purchasing of materials and adjust deliveries to support the Master Schedule while optimizing cash flow.
- Determine supplier capabilities and foster a competitive environment through supplier relationship management.
- Release orders with precise scheduling to align with inventory requirements and maintain efficiency.
- Expedite priorities, coordinating resources to support inspection and ensure on-time delivery.
- Collaborate with suppliers to implement inventory replenishment strategies and drive continuous improvement.
- Utilize Lean principles for ongoing process enhancements and improvement in daily operations.
- Prepare and send quote packages, group items for negotiation, and conduct basic price analysis with support.
- Lead weekly internal review meetings to align on delivery schedules and manage expectations.
- Communicate with suppliers to secure RMAs, export licenses, and ensure regulatory compliance
- Maintain regular status updates and escalate issues that could impact delivery or quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; 1+ year of relevant experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and advanced formulas.
- Prior experience in the defense industry or familiarity with defense-related regulations is a plus.
- Strong team collaboration skills with an ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms.
