A client is looking for a News Content Editor who will support breaking news coverage and assignments across a variety of platforms including desktop, mobile, and social media platforms.
Location: West Coast (REMOTE)
Position: News Content Editor
Pay Rate: $30.68/hr. on W2
Duration: 12 months
Hours: 40hrs/week
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program the news of the day on AOL.com and in the AOL app, including curation of content, headline writing, video programming, push notifications, and more as needed.
- Support breaking news coverage and assignments across a variety of platforms including desktop, mobile, and social media platforms.
- Support special projects associated with development and growth, collaborating with editorial, product, and other teams as needed.
- Help execute coverage plans for tentpole events across a variety of content categories, including News, Entertainment, Sports and more.
- Closely track metrics and analytics of content to stay abreast of evolving interests across our ecosystem.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, media studies, or a related field is often preferred.
- Background in working with major online publications, news websites, or media platforms, especially with mobile-first and app-based strategies.
- Ability to curate, write, and edit compelling headlines and content for a variety of platforms including desktop, mobile, and social media.
- Experience working in a cross-functional environment, including working closely with product, design, video, and other editorial teams.
- Experience executing coverage for tentpole events (e.g., new, sporting events, entertainment milestones, etc.) across multiple categories.
