Job Description

Small, but growing manufacturer located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago is seeking a Buyer. This company has more than doubled it's revenues over the last year and is poised for even more growth!


Job Summary: The Buyer will be responsible for reviewing Bills of Materials (BOM), sourcing and purchasing raw materials both domestically and internationally, and collaborating closely with the engineering team to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and Analyze BOM: Examine Bills of Materials to determine the necessary raw materials and components required for production.
  • Sourcing and Procurement: Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and purchase raw materials from domestic and international sources.
  • Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and control procurement costs, seeking opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaboration with Engineering: Work closely with the engineering team to understand material specifications and ensure that purchased materials meet technical requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the production team to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is a plus
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations and logistics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
