The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
JOB SUMMARY:
Fast-paced and physical role responsible for carrying out the logistics of receiving, processing, storing, and sending inventory according to established shipping schedules.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Receives, unloads, labels, stores, distributes, and loads materials.
- Accurately inspects and verifies quantity and quality of goods received and distributed.
- Checks contents received or distributed against invoices/packing slips and reports discrepancies immediately.
- Records amounts of materials received and distributed.
- Conveys materials from receiving area to storage or to other designated areas.
- Sorts and places materials according to be pre-determined sequence on racks, shelves, or in bins to ensure materials are accessible.
- Takes regular inventory, maintains appropriate stock levels, and maintains inventory records.
- Builds, wraps, sorts, and transports pallets and packages.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials and distributes items.
- Scans all items to ensure products are shipped to the right destination.
- Ensures all items are safely and securely packed and labeled for shipping.
- Operates material handling equipment such as dollies, hand trucks, small item sorters, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
- Maintains a neat, clean, and organized work area. Adheres to internal controls established for department.
- May be responsible for medication returns and disposal of pharmaceutical waste, depending on assigned department.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for the department.
- Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: - Communicates effectively orally and in writing with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.
- Proficient in use of computers and related technology.
- Capacity to execute the movements required to perform essential job functions including manual dexterity and memory.
- Ability to accurately count and restock inventory.
- While performing the duties of this job, will continuously stand or walk, stoop, kneel, bend, squat, climb ladders, and lift items frequently.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs over head.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions.
EQUIPMENT: Works with various equipment which lifts, pushes, pulls, stacks, or moves materials and equipment. This may include a forklift, pallet jack, and/or dock leveler.
Standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: - Standard warehouse/office environment.
- May be required to work weekends and shift rotations.
- May be required to work after hours and extended shifts during emergencies.
- May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing & non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients or others.
Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Forklift certification and pallet jack experience.
Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
