They cooperate with child protection agencies, including reporting cases of abuse; collaborate, when necessary, with law enforcement; participate in consultation tables and case studies; and refer cases that fall outside the school board's jurisdiction to the relevant organizations. They may be called to testify in court.

Provide support; help the student overcome social, cultural, or material difficulties related to their family, social, or school environment; advise or, if needed, refer to appropriate resources.
Raise awareness among students about various deviant behaviors or addictions by holding informational meetings in class or at other times; write announcements for posting or school newspapers and organize and lead activities related to these topics.
Meet with students, parents, and teaching staff to advise, inform, and provide relevant documentation and resources.
May be required to use a computer and various software necessary to perform their tasks.
May be called upon to train less experienced technicians and coordinate the work of support staff in the tasks related to the implementation of technical operation programs for which they are responsible.
If needed, they may perform other related tasks.
