POSITION SUMMARY
The Driver helps create a joyful and vibrant experience for seniors in our community by supervising and coordinating transportation to and from activities and community-related events and by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Participates in outings.
• Drives community transportation vehicle safely for outings.
• Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
• Complies with local traffic regulations.
• Reports delays or accidents.
• Inspects vehicle; checks gas, oil, and water before departure.
• Keeps the vehicle clean and organized inside and out at all times.
• Reports and documents any items in need of repair or service.
• If needed, secures passengers' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
• Cleans and services vehicle with fuel as needed.
• Keeps records of trips.
• Maintains a professional and caring attitude toward seniors. Must be kind and patient.
• Knows all documentation procedures and how to use emergency log.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience driving a van/bus.
• 1 year of experience in working with seniors preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
• Valid State driver's license and participate in driver safety training.
• Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with seniors, community members, volunteers and other employees.
• Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for seniors, staff, and visitors.
