Make an Impact! Coordinates and supervises all activities of the Sterile Processing Department to ensure "high quality" support services to OR/OB/ER/CCL/ASU and ancillary patient care areas. Supervises all activities of Sterile Processing technicians by assigning work, preparing reports, interviewing, and managing the SPD Staff selection, evaluation, and Performance Improvement Programs. Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of Federal, State and Local agencies. Develops and coordinates and documents the Joint Commission required on-going Education/Training Program for all Sterile Processing technicians.
Manages the cost-effective usage of all medical/surgical supplies, equipment and instruments. Maintains appropriate inventory and stock levels. Purchases supplies/instruments as needed.

Experience
- Minimum of five years experience in OR instrumentation/procedures. Experience with OR Case Carts preferred.
- Minimum of three years experience in a supervisory/lead position required
- Extensive knowledge of Joint Commission standards, AAMI recommendations, and Local, State, and Federal regulations pertaining to Sterile Processing required.
Education
- High School Diploma is required, College degree/OR Technician Certification/RN with OR experience/preferred.
Licensures/Certifications
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) is required through IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management). Sterile Processing Managers with a CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification through CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) will need to transfer to the CRCST certification within 6 months of their date of hire.
- CSPDM (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Manager) preferred.
