Assure the continual production of quality parts by keeping operations supplied with the necessary material and equipment to perform their job functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Knowing production needs and keeping production operators constantly supplied with the materials
needed to keep the machines in continuous operation.May include but not limited to:
- Drive a high lift to get needed material for the production line, i.e., steel, boxes, etc.
- Perform daily high lift inspection, completing all necessary paperwork.
- If steel is being rejected, band, tag, and weigh the steel and document the reason for the
rejection.
- Mount rolled steel on the derailers and feed the steel into the roll form mechanism or presses as
needed.
- Assemble boxes by unfolding, stapling, etc. to supply the operators.
- Tag the finished and unfinished product and either take it to the next process, store it, or wrap and
package it for shipment to the customer by completing the proper paperwork.
- Issue materials from the warehouse needed to keep operations going:i.e., rolls of steel, boxes, tape,
and other supplies needed.(This varies slightly with Product Center, shift, Material Coordinator's
experience, department, etc.).
- Update inventory on an as-needed basis and record additions and withdraws from the inventory levels.
- Follow production schedules to make sure correct product is running on each job.
- Dump waste hoppers as needed.
- Clean press and work areas as time allows.
- Paint walkway lines and other housekeeping items as needed.
- Stock chemicals and other items needed on the plater, powder coater, etc., daily.
- Assist during rack changes at the plater and powder coater.
- Inform supervisor when running low on materials at the production lines and from the warehouse.
- Fill in where needed (relieves at the plater, powder coater, etc.).
- Backup Waste Treatment Operator (PC 3 only).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
- Train new Material Handler B personnel
- Other job duties as assigned by supervisor.
TRAINING DESIRED: Statistical Process Control, Problem Solving and High Lift Training.Previous experience as a production operator helpful but not mandatory.
