We are currently seeking six (6) Residential Building Services Workers full-time. You will be working with a great management team along with a great staff that is supportive and always strives to create an inviting work environment.

n

POSITION SUMMARY: The function of this position is to execute a variety of scheduled cleaning tasks and provide quality customer service throughout living environments with a high population of students. These communities house up to or exceed 1,200 residents. This position also includes scheduled summer tasks, transitions and the cleaning of rotating camps, conferences and student orientations. The position performs duties necessary to uphold communication and customer service with a variety of peers, residents and other departmental stakeholders. Perform periodic duties during weekend and holiday shifts and on-call operations to uphold the standards of care for a 24-hour, seven-day a week residential program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Sufficient English verbal communication skills needed to effectively communicate with supervisor, staff and residents.

  1. Valid GA Driver’s license, preferred.

  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with residents, coworkers, professional staff and various customer groups.

  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions, requiring the ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work while responding to interruptions and changing priorities.

  • Ability to read the English language needed to read and comprehend all product warning labels and all official UGA communications.

  1. Ability to demonstrate reading, writing and math skills sufficient to accomplish all job requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  11. Lift and move items at least 50 pounds in weight, both assisted and unassisted.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

n

Cleaning and Related Duties: 65%

n
    n
  • Clean, disinfect and sanitize sinks, tubs, showers, toilets and walls in community style, suite style and public restrooms within student living environments.
  • n
  • Clean glass, mirrors and windows.
  • n
  • Vacuum carpets and walk-off mats daily and clean baseboards.
  • n
  • Clean furniture, light fixtures, walls, water fountains, fans, air vents, doors and ceilings.
  • n
  • Clean trash chute closets and areas according to departmental standards.
  • n
  • Dust and damp mop stairwells and floors.
  • n
  • Buff all hard floors according to cleaning schedule set by supervisor.
  • n
  • Clean and sanitize kitchens, appliances, counters and furniture.
  • n
  • Clean and sanitize laundry rooms, machines inside and out, counters, utility sinks and furniture.
  • n
  • Collect and remove trash and debris. Clean trash receptacles and change liners in bathrooms, offices and common areas. Dispose trash and recycled materials in designated area.
  • n
  • Maintain operational supplies daily such as, refilling soap dispensers, toilet tissue, paper towels and hand sanitizer in restrooms, kitchens, breakrooms and public spaces.
  • n
  • Stock custodial closets and carts daily with supplies needed such as, proper chemicals, toilet tissue, paper towels, cleaning tools, can liners and items deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • n
  • Safely operate and use various types of equipment, tools and products. This includes carpet cleaning and extraction, strip and wax (refinishing floors), bathroom machines and flood mitigation. Responsible for safe operation of assigned equipment.
  • n
  • Report any equipment in need of repair or replacement.
  • n
  • Utilize proper training to clean up potentially hazardous materials (i.e., bodily fluids, etc.)
  • n
  • Communicate appropriately with residents regularly, as well as team members, supervisors and department leadership.
  • n
  • Report damage and maintenance work requests to immediate supervisor and/or work control office.
  • n
  • Fulfill work order requests in the event of cleaning or emergencies.
  • n
  • Provide escort services for visiting contractors to perform necessary building repairs.
  • n
  • Participate in Building Services after-hour’s on-call program as needed.
  • n
  • Apartment vacancy duties: Perform cleaning in apartment, townhomes and single family homes, per weekly occupancy/vacancy report.
  • n
n

Summer Transition Duties: 20%

n
    n
  • Perform summer project work assignments to include, deep cleaning of all student living environments, student common areas, restrooms, kitchens, business offices and public spaces.
  • n
  • Operate equipment to extract carpets, within vacated student living environments, student common areas, business offices and public spaces.
  • n
  • Strip and wax floors within vacated student living environments, kitchens, laundry rooms and public spaces.
  • n
  • Collect and remove large quantities of trash and debris. Dispose of in proper containers.
  • n
  • Participate in the moving of stock items, i.e., bed ends, bed springs, dressers, etc.
  • n
  • Receive and deliver quantities of mattresses to various communities and install in assigned community.
  • n
  • Pressure wash outside areas when needed.
  • n
  • Perform regular cleaning and related duties in residence halls during Orientation Sessions and Summer Camps and Conferences.
  • n

Training and Professional Duties: 13%

  • Participate in team meetings.

  • Participate in job related training and demonstrate a competency of the work standards.

  • Attend all departmental training and events to uphold UGA/Housing compliance.

  • Provide verbal feedback to peers, direct supervisor and other departmental stakeholders on success of procedures and process.

  • Maintain professional composure when verbally communicating with residents. Be attentive, listen to needs and respond as authorized. Work with direct supervisor to communicate requests outside of your direct responsibilities.

Occasional Duties: 2%

  • Receive and deliver miscellaneous supplies and goods to and from various buildings.
  • n
  • Undertake occasional seasonal duties, i.e., shoveling snow, applying salt, etc.

  • Perform other duties consistent with the purpose and scope of this position, which may be assigned by supervisor.

  • Perform duties on weekend and holiday shifts.

  • May carry radio for communication and response purposes in the absence of Lead personnel.
