We are seeking a Litigation Docketing Specialist to join our team. The Litigation Docketing Specialist is responsible for supporting the published procedures related to docketable information received from outside sources or K&L Gates' lawyers/staff. This includes, but is not limited to, calendaring within the firm's litigation docketing database, creating and distributing reports, working with lawyers to confirm accuracy of case dockets, and managing all source information according to firm practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
•Helps plan and arrange day-to-day workload for assigned tasks with the Firmwide Docketing Manager. The daily makeup of tasks changes frequently depending on office and department needs.
•Performs tasks associated with litigation-related docketing, including, but not limited to
•Reviewing, processing, and docketing in the identified firmwide non-IP docketing application all necessary events from source information received from outside sources or submitted by K&L Gates' lawyers and legal support staff
•Generating and distributing weekly and on-demand docket reminder reports to lawyers and staff from the firmwide application and updating the application based on lawyer responses
•Dating, stamping, and logging all source information according to published procedures
•Coding and filing all source information in the firm's designated system of record
•Maintains a current knowledge of court rules and local court procedures for each of the supported K&L Gates locations
•Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with firm lawyers and legal support staff
•Contributes to the firmwide docketing team's overall efforts, helps train other docketing staff, helps maintain departmental priorities, and delivers excellent patron service
•Performs relief and/or project duties and responsibilities, which may include assisting with lawyer departures, docket conversions, and file inventories, as well as supporting docketing personnel in other offices
•Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
•Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience
•Two or more years experience as a litigation legal secretary, paralegal or docketing support
•Computer literate, familiar with automated technologies
•Knowledge and understanding of court rules
•Ability to plan and organize projects as well as to analyze and solve problems proactively
•Ability to work independently
•Ability to type 40 wpm accurately
•Ability to focus on time-sensitive tasks with a strong attention to detail
ADDITIONAL ABILITIES REQUIRED
•Excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to interact effectively with employees and/or clients
•Demonstrated ability to meet obligations with confidentiality, integrity, and sensitivity
•Frequently work at fast pace with unscheduled interruptions
•This job operates in an office setting and is largely sedentary, requiring the routine use of a computer and other standard office equipment. The ability to open file cabinets, lift files up to 40 pounds unassisted, bend, and stand on a stool may also be required.
Compensation Salary $61,000 - $115,000
The compensation salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
As required by the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative Ordinance and San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, qualified applicants for our Los Angeles and San Francisco offices with arrest and conviction records will be considered.
