Job Description

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois is looking to expand their Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Coordinator will be responsible for supporting all aspects of human resource activities for Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois with an emphasis on administrative support, recruitment, and customer service.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
New Hire Process

  • Prepares and maintains personnel files including the timely entry of files into the payroll and timekeeping system.
  • Prepares and maintains personnel files for employees working in the Work Experience Program through The Workforce Connection. Approves work sites for the Work Experience Program with support from the Risk Manager as needed.
  • Verifies I-9 information for employees using the E-Verify system.
  • Ensures all employees complete appropriate drug screen and background checks; approves proper billing and submits for payment. Follows Fair Credit Act procedures with background checks as needed.
Administrative & Reporting
  • Maintains file room and all employment related files. Ensures filing to kept up to date.
  • Maintains and updates human resources documents.
  • Completes employment verification forms.
  • Oversees the retail performance appraisal process, including collecting appraisals, reminding managers of due dates, reviewing all completed appraisals, and filing appropriately.
  • Enters direct deposit or pay card information into Paycom. Oversees pay card inventory.
  • Exits employees leaving the Work Experience Program through The Workforce Connection and provides appropriate reporting to grant stakeholders.
  • Ensures required employment reporting for CARF accreditation is completed (i.e. annual Office of General Inspector Review).
Recruitment
  • Collaborate with Human Resources Manager to organize workforce needs.
  • Acts as expert on applicant tracking system utilizing all available features and personalizing as needed.
  • Posts job openings using a variety of recruitment platforms and provides internal opening lists to all locations.
  • Provides recruitment support to retail managers and supports pre-screening efforts as appropriate.
  • Promotion and tracking of internal Referral Program.
  • Attends Job Fairs as needed.
Employee Relations
  • Assists in coordinating and distributing t-shirts to stores on a determined schedule.
  • Creates and distributes information that promotes and ensures completion of the annual Retail Employee Engagement Survey and quarterly Admin/Mission Employee Engagement Survey.
  • Conducts mission and administration employee onboarding.
  • Supports Home Office Fun Committee, wellness initiatives, etc.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in a human resource department preferred, with an emphasis in recruiting.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple issues/tasks.
  • Cheerful, friendly attitude. High customer service focus.
  • Sense of urgency in addressing organizational/individual needs.
  • Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality & professionalism.
  • Demonstrates high ethical practices with exceptional decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Functional use of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Compensation: $17-19/hour
