There is an immediate opening in the Fulton City School District (FCSD) to teach Science at the secondary level (grade 8).
This is a probationary position.
Must possess valid NYS teacher certification in General Science 7-12, or another comparable certification area, or be eligible for certification. Candidates with multiple certifications are encouraged to apply.
Other Qualifications:
- Candidates must be collaborative, reflective, and possess a strong knowledge of the New York State Science Learning Standards
- Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and the social/emotional welfare of students in the context of the science classroom.
- Candidates must have strong content knowledge and practice student-centered instruction.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Ensure your students achieve learning outcomes in the subject of General Science by instructing students in a clear, concise and engaging manner, and regularly preparing lessons that incorporate NYS Next Generation Standards;
- Incorporate the school's objectives into your curriculum by remaining up to date with mission and initiatives;
- Attend staff development days to improve your skills and receive help and feedback from colleagues;
- Regularly communicate with parents and legal guardians regarding child's performance, track and record student progress and keep records up to date for progress reports and report cards.
- Review academic needs and execute plans for improvement by providing additional help and support;
- Maintain student attendance records and grades;
- Prepare course materials such as homework assignments, labs and additional required documents;
- Providing instruction and academic support services at the secondary level;
- Co-teaching with general education and special education teachers and supporting student learning through modeling, lesson planning, data analysis and ongoing feedback.
- Administering assessments as required by NYS and FCSD;
- Engaging students in rigorous learning experiences, resulting progress toward high school graduation requirements, as well as career readiness.
