The LPN is also a member of a designated care team and collaborates with team members in achieving goals. The LPN is cognizant of the philosophy, standards, objectives and policies of the Department and the Organization.nnRequirements:nnDemonstrates competency in performing treatments and procedures.nnAssists in achieving patients respiratory needs: Aerosol and inhalation treatments, encourages coughing and deep breathingnnPerforms oral and endotracheal suctioningnnPerforms therapeutic procedures and treatments:nnInserts and removes Foley cathetersnnPerforms EKGsnnPhlebotomy for blood collectionnnInsert IV and maintains linennAssists patient with and reinforces use of therapeutic equipment (i.e., incentive spirometer, hot and cold packs)nnPerforms patient prepnnPrepares & administers medication and observes patients responsennDemonstrates knowledge of action, dosage and side effects of medications.nnDemonstrates ability to safely administer any medication allowed by N.Y. State law and in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures.nnObtains and records: Vital Signs, Height and Weight, Head CircumferencennCollects specimens and documentsnnQualifications:nnCertificate of completion from a practical nurse course of study.nnMinimum 1-2 years of experience working within an ambulatory setting preferred.nnDemonstrated clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.nnDemonstrated ability to perform venipuncture and administer medications including immunizations.nnDemonstrated basic computer skills including typing.nnBi-lingual Spanish preferred.nnDemonstrated ability to organize care and activities of multiple patients.nnCurrent New York State LPN license and registration.nnCurrent BCLS, Infection Control Child Abuse Certificates required.nnEqual Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action:nnThe Institute for Family Health is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
