Job SummarynnThe Employee Health Nurse endeavors to promote health and safety to all employees by facilitating an Employee Health Program which includes disease detection, prevention, and treatment; following up employee illnesses and injuries; conducting employee health screenings; and, promoting a safe work environment.nnEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesnnThese duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.nnConducts new hire screenings and annual employee health screenings to include health history, immunizations update, and brief physical assessment.nnRefers employees with identifiable limitations and/or health risks to appropriate resources.nnCollaborates with Human Resources to ensure completion of all health screenings.nnConducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases.nnPlans, implements and conducts annual Flu Vaccine Program.nnPlans and implements other vaccine programs as directed by APIC, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies, to include Tetanus and MMR.nnFollows all regulations and laws provided by APIC, OSHA, CDC, HFAP and other regulatory agencies.nnConducts TB screening for all new employees, all other employees, and volunteers according to the CRH’s TB control plan. Conducts follow-up skin testing for all employee TB exposures. May be asked to perform for non-employed staff.nnProvides annual mask fit testing and other personal protective devices as required by licensing agencies.nnTrends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues.nnStrives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner.nnFunctions within the RN scope of practice.nnDemonstrates awareness of an adherence to legal requirements pertinent to employee health and safety.nnMaintains employee health records.nnMaintains summaries and written reports required for employee illness/injury reporting. Responsible for posting annual required OSHA logs and submitting by the agency deadline.nnParticipates as an active member of the Infection Control Committee, Safety Committee, and Quality Committee and on other hospital-wide committees at the request of executive level management or director.nnProvides concise data and tracking of all exposures. Provides appropriate and timely reporting to various committees.nnProvides initial assessment of employee injuries and assures the proper referrals are made with Workers Compensation physician practice.nnWorks collaboratively with Well Program Nurse Practitioner, Director of Infection Control and Human Resources.nnPerforms other related duties incidental to the work described herein.nnAttend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-servicesnnMust be able to keep up to date with OSHA requirements and other regulatory policies.nnDemonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient carennQualificationsnnTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must hold a valid RN license to practice in Virginia.nnPreferred Education: BSN preferred.nnAll registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.nnExperience:nnTwo years of nursing experience is required. Previous Occupational Health experience highly desired.nnCertificates, Licenses, RegistrationsnnMust be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse; BSN preferred
