This position requires an experienced RN who has expertise in caring for geriatric psychiatric patients, particularly those with dementia, depression, or suicidal tendencies. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of RN experience, along with BLS and CPI Blue Card certifications, and recent Epic experience.nnThis is a unique opportunity to work in a specialized psychiatric unit designed for elderly patients, offering the chance to make a significant impact in a compassionate, team-based care environment.nnGero-Psych Nurse (RN) Key Responsibilities:nnProvide psychiatric care to geriatric patients, primarily over 60 years old, dealing with dementia, depression, or suicidal ideation.nAdminister medications, monitor patient behavior, and engage in therapeutic communication to help improve mental and emotional health.nDraw blood and manage IVs as required, ensuring proper documentation of treatments.nFloat within the Behavioral Health Pavilion as needed, based on patient care needs and census.nWork in a 16-bed unit, with 1:6/7 patient ratios, which may increase depending on census.nUtilize the Epic system for patient documentation (recent Epic experience required, and must be included in your resume).nEnsure safety and comfort of patients by maintaining a therapeutic and secure environment.nEngage in de-escalation techniques as necessary, using skills learned from CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training.nCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.nRTO (Requested Time Off) must be submitted at the time of application (max of 7 days). Any candidate requesting more than 7 days will be automatically rejected.nNo block scheduling requests will be accepted.nSolid black scrubs required.nnGero-Psych Nurse (RN) Required Qualifications:nnRegistered Nurse (RN) with 2+ years of experience in psychiatric or geriatric nursing.nBLS (Basic Life Support) and CPI Blue Card (Crisis Prevention Institute) required.nRecent Epic experience within the past year (please list where you have used Epic on your resume).nMust be able to draw blood and manage IVs independently.nAbility to work the night shift (19:00 – 07:30) and manage 1:6/7 patient ratios.nFloat within the unit as needed.nGraduate of an accredited nursing school (or a school accepted for candidacy status by an accrediting body).nnGero-Psych Nurse (RN) Preferred Skills & Experience:nnPrevious experience in geriatric psychiatry or behavioral health.nAbility to manage patients with complex psychiatric conditions, including dementia, depression, and suicidal ideation.nStrong background in de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention.nExperience working with the elderly in a psychiatric setting.nnIf interested, please send your resume to
